The barretter is a current stabilising device. The active property of the iron wire within the barretter is a positive temperature coefficient as with a thermistor. As the current increases, the resistance also increases opposing the rise in current.
The only identification on the envelope is the 7 in a circle.
The balloon envelope is 54 mm in diameter, and excluding the UX4 base pins is 118 mm tall.
