The 6U7G is a variable μ pentode. Amplifier pentodes such as this would be AGC controlled gain stages in superhet receivers.
The 6D6 is essentially the same valve on a UX6 base.
Very little of the electrode structure is visible except for the insulated and twisted heater.
The classic envelope is 38 mm in diameter, and excluding the IO base pins is 104 mm tall.
