The CV3615 is a small wideband reflex klystron designed as a CW oscillator at various frequencies between 0.5 and 3.8 GHz at powers of 175 to 50 mW. The various frequencies can be fine tuned electrically up to 6 MHz.
It is described in the literature as particularly suitable for use in signal generators, spectrum analysers, and for local oscillator use where a broadband source is required.
The picture shows a fine mesh disc across the whole envelope that is the second resonator. The lower ring connects to the first resonator. The resonator voltage is 350 Volts. The top cap connects to the reflector or repeller and is held at about -700 Volts.
This valve was originally packed into a screw top aluminium can. The inner protection was foam packing.
The thin glass tube envelope is 18 mm in diameter, and excluding the base pins is 68 mm tall. The maximum diameter is 24 mm.
