The CV416 is the commercial 6F17 beam tetrode produced to the UK Government specification based on the VX6055.
This exhibit is clearly labelled as a sample for the Government to test prior to certifying that the product meets the design specification and thus can be made and labelled as a CV416. The design purpose is for RF and pulse voltage amplification and was used in television receivers but RADAR is another possible application as would be test equipment.
Seen from the side the rounded anode box can be seen.
See also The S6F17 which is a special quality version of the basic 6F17 design.
The thin glass tube envelope is 17 mm in diameter, and excluding the B7G base pins, is 47 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet & 1040. Type CV416 was first introduced in 1948. See also 1948 adverts.
