This American half wave rectifier features a directly heated oxide filament.

From the top the ribbon coated filaments can be seen. Each inverted 'V' having its own tensioning spring. The anode is carburized for greater heat radiation.

The balloon envelope is 60 mm in diameter and, excluding the UX4 base pins, is 133 mm tall.
