The RG3-250 is a power rectifier. The anode is caged to reduce the emission of x-rays from the envelope. Such a rectifier would have been used in transmitting or radar equipment. See also RG3-250A

The classic envelope is 42 mm in diameter and, is 147 mm tall. The base is the Giant Ediswan Screw or GES.
