The Ferranti NSP1 valve is a neon strobe tube. The anode is sheathed in glass as it passes through the envelope to maintain the isolation characteristics of the device.

The GN10 is of similar construction but has the anode brought out to a top cap, and is a thyratron.

The wide glass tube envelope is 27 mm in diameter and, excluding the base pins, is 85 mm tall.
