The 6AV5GA valve is a compact American line time base output valve dating from the later 1950s. Since American TV at that time used different time base standards, American TVs (and hence specialised American TV valves) are not too common over here.

The 6AV5 is less powerful than the 6AU5 but is pin compatible with it.

The wide glass tube envelope is 36 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 79 mm tall.
