The 885 is a 1930's general purpose gas filled triode or Thyratron, initial use as relaxation oscillator and television timebase generator.
It has operating characteristics that match the 884. It differs in heater parameters and base. The data-sheet indicates that new designs should be based on the newer 884.
The valve was packed in an oversized box with this label. At the base of the label is a date of December 1936. The box measures 94mm square and 200mm tall.
The classic envelope is 38 mm in diameter and, excluding the UX5 base pins is 89 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet & 3002. Type 885 was first introduced in 1935. See also 1935 adverts.
