The UCC85 is the universal supply version of the ECC85 VHF double triode, designed for RF amplifier and local oscillator use in FM radio receivers.
The specifications would also make it suitable for Band III to band one converters, as well as television front ends. The Band III (175 Mhz area) to band one (45 MHz area) converters were made at the launch of commercial television in the UK in 1955. They enabled existing sets to receive the new transmissions.
The twin triode sections with electrostatic screen between.
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter and, excluding the B9A base pins, is 48 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet & 1040. Type UCC85 was first introduced in 1954. See also 1954 adverts.
