The UF80 high slope, screened amplifier pentode is designed for voltage amplifier applications. Probably for use at 10.7 MHz for FM radio receivers. The UF80 was seen in radio receiver valve line-ups in the 1950s.
The low anode voltage and 100 mA heater requirement point to use in applications without mains transformers.
Looking through the perforated screen the strap holding both sides of the anode is clear to see. Looking at the full size image reveals the suppressor grid as an open pitch helix. The screen grid is shaped to pass flat across the cathode. The control grid is not visible.
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter and, excluding the B9A base pins the valve is 60 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet & 1040. Type UF80 was first introduced in 1953. See also 1953 adverts.
