The CV1193 is an example of Canadian metallic spray coating on a War Effort valve supplied to a British/European design. The distinctive thin black coating is characteristic of Canadian manufacture and, like the American coatings, was more robust than the British original.
This triode hexode frequency changer was designed by Marconi. It was for superhet use and radio or radar reception would have been the area of usage.
The oscillator section would be run from a stabilised supply and the injection voltage was designed to be 10 Volts peak to peak. As was typical of the time the signal was applied to g1 and this was brought out to the top cap for maximum isolation.
The wide glass tube envelope is 28 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 93 mm tall.
