Martin donated display valves and data-books in Spring 2026 as he was retiring from running Billington Export Limited.
Martin and his wife Jenny ran the business from Billingshurst with a small and dedicated staff.
Martin Billington and his father started trading in 1981 as Billington Valves selling valves and government surplus items such as Morse keys from his garage at home in Horsham.
The business expanded and in 1989 he moved to a small factory unit in the nearby village of Bolney. The business continued to expand rapidly into overseas markets and in 1991 Billington Export was formed.
The premises at Bolney soon became restricted for the four members of staff and in 1992 Billington Export moved to Billingshurst. 1994 saw the introduction of their own brands, 'Thermionic' and 'Billington Gold' and in 1995 the purchase of a second, two storey and freehold warehouse next door to the existing facility.
