The Cossor P2 is a bright emitter valve and first went into production in 1922. Cossor launched the valve as for HF use. This exhibit is of later manufacture and is fitted with a composition base and arrived in an original box. Our other P2 is earlier and has the plated base shell and its box was of heavier construction.
See also P1.
The red paint at the top indicates the HF valve called P2. The 'tin hat' anodes is held firmly by the thick wire support.
The lettering on this exhibit is badly degraded. The feint lettering on the right is probably the name Cossor. The glass is not as clear as some other early Cossor valves and the internal structure does not photograph well.
The simple split pin base pins. Note the machining at the top of the pin designed to grip the Bakelite base. Visible only due to the broken plastic. The contact wires are soldered to the pins just below the insulated cap.
The wide glass tube envelope is 29 mm in diameter, and excluding the B4 base pins, is 81 mm tall.
References: 1003 Type P2  was first introduced in 1922. See also 1922 adverts.
