The CV358 is high impedance screened pentode designed for intermediate frequency amplifier use the prototype was the EF37. The high anode AC resistance suggests the use of high Q tuned circuits. The EF37 data sheet also gives parameters for use as a triode. The first computer, Colossus, built for code breaking during WWII made great use of these valves. The KB/A identifies this valve as being made to specification K1001 or K1006, the B denotes qualification by a UK authority and the A identifies the maker as Mullard Radio Valve Co., Blackburn, pre Jan 1951.
The envelope is screened by the red zinc loaded pain connected to the cathode pin.The classic envelope is 30 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 85 mm tall.References: Data-sheet & 1040. |
