The CV509 (commercially the 6V6G) is an audio beam tetrode. This Type was very popular as the final audio stage of radio receivers. And is popular today for audio amplifiers.
The valves were capable of push pull use but originally the normal environment was as a single end output stage.

Looking up under the coating from the base.
The classic envelope is 45 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 101 mm tall.
