This Mullard DK96 is labelled as of Foreign origin and comes from the time that Mullard production in the UK was in decline. From the early 1960s battery valve radios lost out to the imported transistor radio. In 1964 a six transistor miniature radio operating on a PP3 battery could be purchased for little more than a 90 Volt HT battery.

The DK96 dry battery frequency changer from Mullard is from the later range of very low filament consumption valves.

The thin glass tube envelope is 17 mm in diameter and, excluding the B7G base pins, is 46 mm tall.
