The Hampshire Collection
The 5642 was made in Japan and looks to be an EHT rectifier. The distance between filament and anode is less than for TV EHT rectifiers, this suggests Industrial use for say Oscilloscope EHT supplies of, say, 5,000 Volts.
The spiral coated filament passes centrally within the bright Nickel tube anode.
The second picture shows the relation between the filament and the anode.
The thin glass tube envelope is 9 mm in diameter, and excluding the flying leads is 50 mm tall.
