The DET24 carries the MWT (Marconi's Wireless Telegraphy Co.) name but was made by M-OV.
The DET24 could be used as an oscillator or amplifier and could produce up to 10 Watts at up 2 GHz.
This view shows the re-entrant seal to the envelope and also the very small active area of the valve. The anode and cathode have flat surfaces that are located very close to the mesh grid. Such minimal distances were needed to reduce electron transit times to the very small figures required for operation in the microwave portion of the frequency spectrum.
The planar envelope is 20 mm in diameter, with the anode flange being 30 mm in diameter. The valve is 65 mm in overall length.
