The 1LA6 is a heptode mixer for use in battery portable receivers. The figures given as for a triode are for the oscillator formed between the cathode, grid 1 and grid 2 acting as the oscillator anode.

The type designation is etched into the envelope dome.

The wide glass tube envelope is 28 mm in diameter, and excluding the B8B base pins is 55 mm tall.
