The 5R4WGY is a high voltage power rectifier and was designed for transmitter use. It has a rating of 180 Watts. The maximum reservoir capacitor is specified at 4 µF and the rectifier needs a series resistance of 250 Ohms to limit peak current.

This exhibit is a more modern version of the valve and would be moisture stable the 5R4GY is of an older design but has the same rating.

The wide glass tube envelope is 42 mm diameter at its maximum and excluding the IO base pins the length is 116 mm. The plastic base has a maximum diameter of 50 mm.
