G8LSD Valve Collection
This Russian valve is clearly modelled on the European Pattern VHF double beam tetrodes. It looks to be a close match to the QQV06-40 from Mullard. The base is not to a European standard.
The 6.3 Volt heater rating is achieved by putting both sections in parallel. When used in series with connections to pins 6 and 8 the heater requires 12.6 Volta at 0.9 Amps.
The anode dissipation is 40 Watts just as for the QQV06-40.
The close-up shows the screen grid. This would be common to both sides of the cathode and therefore to both valves. The small open cylinder that can be seen is the neutralising capacitor. There is one on each side of the valve, and they exist to prevent the valve from self oscillating.
Thanks to Kajetan Rozycki from Poland for correcting our understanding of this exhibit. The Cyrillic reads GU19. The Russian 'G' looks like our 'upsided-down' 'L' and their 'U' looks like our 'Y'. In the picture above the type number can be seen 'SDELANO V SSSR' which means 'MADE IN USSR'.
The wide glass tube envelope is 40 mm in diameter and, excluding the base pins, is 75 mm tall.
